Circa 1806 Royal Exchange Assurance Lead Fire Plaque.
Fire Insurance Plaques were embossed metal signs, which were placed on front of houses indicating they were insured against fire.
This plaque was issued by the Royal Exchange Assurance Corporation which was founded in 1720
The association was a general insurance company and merged with the Guardian Assurance company in 1968
This plaque depicts the second Royal Exchange Building with a crown above the the policy number 221570 impressed on panel below
Its reported to come of a building in Bedford and dated 1806
It’s mounted on an oak plaque, which can be hung on the wall and measures approx 23cm x 20
