John Scott has been collecting British Decorative Arts for over forty years, amassing what many regard to be the finest collection in private hands.
The Fine Arts Society presented this remarkable collection in 2014
The exhibition included a large number of rare and important pieces that have been exhibited in museum shows worldwide, including Christopher Dresser: A Design Revolution at the V&A, London 2004
The exhibition showcased Dresser’s remarkably broad and eclectic output, which includes metalwork, furniture , glass, cast iron, ceramics designed for some of the most prestigious manufacturers of the Industrial Revolution including Wedgwood, Minton and Coalbrookdale.
The exhibition was called Truth, Beauty and Power and this pair of fire rests are catalogued in that exhibition so are extremely rare.
