British single-seat biplane fighter from World War I
* It was introduced in 1917 and became one of the most well-known fighter aircraft of the war.
* Pilots flying Camels were credited with downing 1,294 enemy aircraft, more than any other Allied fighter.
* The aircraft was known for its maneuverability but was also difficult to fly, leading to many training accidents.
* The nickname "Camel" came from a hump-like fairing over the machine guns.
* Approximately 5,490 were built, and it remained in service until the end of the war.
