Original Landscape Watercolour By Artist William Warden (1908-1982) Circa 1950/60’s
Landscape painter in oil and watercolour. Studied at Liverpool City School of Art, 1924–30, and in Sussex under George Graham. Became a member of the Society of Sussex Painters in 1938. Exhibited at RA, NEAC, RBA, with the AEB, Arts Council, Roland, Browse and Delbanco and at the New Grafton Gallery, as well as in the provinces. Hastings Art Gallery has his work, and official purchases include Imperial War Museum, Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and Rye Art Gallery. From the early 1950s Warden concentrated on oils, and regular stays at Agalier, in the Avignon area of France, lightened his palette. Died in Southport, Lancashire, although he lived at Winchelsea Beach, Sussex. There was a studio sale at the Campion Gallery, Rye, in 2000.
