Rita Burns was born in London and attended part time courses at St Martins School of Art in the early 1950s. She moved to Hertfordshire in 1958 and qualified as teacher of art at Balls Park College in 1972. Rita has taught in many comprehensive schools in Hertfordshire and it was the journeys to and from these schools which gave her inspiration.
Her exhibitions have included: RA Summer Exhibitions 1980, 2004, 2005, 2006. Animals in Print - Camden Institute 1981, etc. Mall Prints, Mall Gallery 1982. Hertfordshire County in the Making Tour 1987 and The Printmakers Council, Royal Festival Hall 1988.
